Luxury Wedding

Buffalo NY Luxury Wedding- Gretchen & Andrew

A Real Luxury Wedding at the Admiral Room. TIMELESS AND CLASSY.   We recently asked this sweet couple some questions about their proposal, engagements season and wedding.

Can you share your proposal story? Was it a surprise?

It was straight out of a dream. We were in Europe on vacation, soaking in the beauty and romance that surrounded us. On the last night of our trip, Andrew surprised me with an exquisite display of flowers, a red carpet, and champagne, all set against the breathtaking backdrop of the Eiffel Tower. He dropped to one knee and asked me to spend the rest of my life with him. It was a complete and unforgettable surprise. To make the moment even more special, he flew my parents out to Paris to witness our engagement and arranged for a photographer and videographer to capture every heartfelt detail, so I can relive the joy and love time and again. I said yes through happy tears, and I will forever cherish the memory of saying yes to the love of my life in the City of Love.

What inspired your overall theme or vibe?

We wanted our wedding to be a true reflection of our journey: timeless, romantic, and full of grace. Inspired by the elegance and luxury of Paris, the city where we became engaged, we incorporated subtle Parisian touches to bring a sense of refined charm to our celebration. A palette of soft whites, champagne hues, and delicate black accents set the tone. It created an atmosphere of graceful sophistication while allowing the true focus to remain on our love and the meaningful moments we shared with family and friends.

Why did you choose the Admiral Room?

The Admiral Room felt like the perfect canvas for our celebration. With its soaring ceilings, beautiful architecture, and old-world charm, it captured the exact feeling we were looking for: classic, romantic, and grand without being overwhelming. The moment we stepped inside, we could picture our entire day unfolding there. It felt like us.

Is there a story behind your first dance or parent dance songs?

Our first dance was to “Next to Me” by RÜFÜS DU SOL. We wanted a song with a modern, atmospheric sound that still carried emotional depth. It reflects the calm and strength that come from simply being beside the one you love and beautifully captures the feeling of finding your soulmate. No matter what life brings, we’re at our best when we’re together. Dancing to it on our wedding day was surreal. It brought back every mile we traveled, every choice that brought us closer, and every quiet moment that made us fall in love.

What was the most exciting part about your day?

There were so many unforgettable moments, but one of the most exciting was finally walking down the aisle, locking eyes with Andrew, and feeling the depth of what it meant to be marrying my best friend and true love. That overwhelming rush of joy, love, and gratitude is impossible to put into words. In that instant, the world faded away, leaving only the profound connection and the promise of a lifetime together.

Any suggestions, concerns, or comments you’d like to share?

Our advice is to stay present and enjoy the wedding planning process, even while anticipating some stressful moments along the way. Plan your wedding to reflect who you are as a couple, including your style, values, and the way you want to celebrate. Let your love guide you, and everything else will fall into place. This day is the beginning of a beautiful lifetime together with your soulmate.

Here are some key things to consider when choosing your winter wedding venue:
Architectural Elegance & City Views
Look for venues that offer more than just four walls. At the Admiral Room, you’ll find stunning neoclassical architecture, massive windows overlooking Buffalo’s cityscape, and a grand hall that feels as special as the moment itself.

Availability- It is tough to get a Saturday wedding at our beautiful venue, but be a bit more flexible with your calendar.  Another advantage is your vendor availability may be easier to book.  Let’s face it, there are some to die for vendors in WNY and you may be able to work with them with greater flexibility.

And the flowers! wow the flowers in December are stunning!  Add a little touch of evergreen and pinecones.

An Interview with Brittany Ford, a WNY top photographer

We are so lucky in WNY to have such a great group of wedding vendors.  We reached out to a top photographer to share a bit about herself.  From the moment our staff met her, we found her welcoming and fun.  For your wedding day you spend 6-10 hours together, you must vibe with that person.  We think you would have a blast with Brittany and her work is stunning.

Tell me about yourself
Hi! I’m Brittany, the owner and lead photographer behind Brittany Ford Photography. I’m based in Batavia, NY, but I travel often for weddings. I’ve been passionate about photography since middle school, and that love only deepened as I grew older and continued my education for it in college. I’m also the founder of Studio Lavonne & Community in Batavia, a creative space named in honor of my grandmother, where I host everything from branding sessions to workshops. I believe wedding photography is more than just beautiful images—it’s about preserving the moments that matter most.

@brittanyfordphotography.com

How long have you been shooting weddings?
I photographed my first wedding in 2012 and have been full-time since 2020. Over the years, I’ve captured everything from intimate backyard ceremonies to full weekend wedding celebrations, and I still get excited every time I walk into a wedding day.

Describe your style
My style is vibrant, candid, and story-driven. I aim to capture the true essence of a wedding day from natural emotion, beautiful light to all the little in-between moments you didn’t even realize were happening. I lean toward bright and colorful edits with true-to-life tones, steering clear of the earthy/moody trend that’s common in the WNY area.

Will you take requests for special pictures to be taken?
Absolutely. I love working with my couples to make sure we capture what’s most meaningful to them. Whether it’s recreating a family heirloom photo, honoring a loved one, or making sure you get that perfect golden hour shot, I’m all about collaboration and intention behind all of my images.

Why should someone choose you? What do YOU bring to the table?
I bring over a decade of experience, a calm presence, and a deep love for what I do. My couples know I’ll help keep their day running smoothly, offer timeline support and be a friendly, familiar face on a day that can otherwise feel overwhelming. I’m organized, attentive, and genuinely invested in making sure my couples feel seen and celebrated throughout their entire wedding process.

Does your camera have dual memory card slots?
Yes, always. I shoot on professional cameras with dual memory card slots, which means each image is backed up in real-time. It’s one of many behind-the-scenes safeguards I take seriously to protect my couples memories.

How do you handle images once the wedding is over?
Immediately after the wedding, I back up the images to multiple locations: an external hard drive, a cloud storage system and I don’t format memory cards until final galleries are delivered.

When do you reformat/delete the images off the memory cards you use at weddings?
I wait until the gallery is edited, delivered, and backed up in several places before I even think about reformatting my cards.

You are getting married this year, who is shooting your wedding?
I am! We are planning a little untraditionally and having our wedding day in two days so one of my best friends in the local photography industry is capturing my ceremony and one of my old second photographers from years ago is capturing my reception. They both have a style that I love and they’re I trust to handle my memories with care, just like I do for my own clients.

What is the best thing you’ve seen done at a wedding reception? Are you using that at your wedding?
One of the most fun things I’ve seen was a late-night espresso martini bar, instant energy boost and such a vibe! I also love the videos I have seen online about a late night snack coming out onto the dancefloor. Who doesn’t love someone walking around handing you ice cream sandwiches, cannolis, hot dogs, or pizza?! Who also doesn’t love a high energy dance floor?! When the band/DJ gets involved on the dancefloor, everyone’s excitement is through the roof and definitely sets the tone for the rest of the evening AND is great for awesome photos!

Because my wedding is so laid-back like us as a couple, we are having an ice cream machine, a bonfire with hot dogs and beer pong! (my only requests 🙂 )

Real Luxury wedding in Buffalo NY – Sarah & Brian

church wedding Sarah and Brian
just married

Are you considering a black and white luxury wedding in Buffalo Niagara area…..  look no further than the http://www.admiralroom.com.  Our spotlight couple met in college at St. Bonaventure University. http://www.stbonaventureuniversity.com They started dating our sophomore year in college and look at them now.

For their wedding theme they wanted classic, romantic and elegant. We both always loved black and white, and our vision came to life with all of our details from the day. Throughout the room they had bud vases with roses, tons of candles, beautiful candelabras.  The bridal party wore black dresses, and the men were in black tuxes.  A stunning champagne tower was showcased in the room.

Lots of thought went into the first dance song, we listened to so many this past summer on our way home from our annual vacation to cape cod. When we heard the classic “can’t help falling in love with you” by Elvis we both loved it and kept going back to it. This was also my Papas favorite song who passed away in 2016. This song tied in perfect with our love and classic theme. For our parents we both picked it out with them. With my dad and I specific, we started slow and then to get the party started danced to our favorite song “Low” which we used to dance together with at dance competitions growing up.  Have fun with this.
When looking at wedding venues, nothing else compared to the Admiral Room. It was totally our vibe, and we could see ourselves getting married here and having the best party of our lives. The classic marble and gold esthetic tied in perfect with our vision and we knew that this was the place we had to get married at- never did we think we would have a November wedding, but we were willing to wait for a Saturday that you guys had! The day was perfect, and we wouldn’t have it any other way. The staff was amazing and helped a ton.  The food, music and decor were amazing!

Sarah and Brian wanted to share some advice for all newly engaged couples.  Enjoy wedding planning and take in every moment! The Admiral Room is the perfect place to have your special day, and we will cherish the place and our day forever.   During your engagement process be sure to ask questions and don’t let the little things cause stress. It’s easier said then done but it’s not worth it! Let people help you. The staff at the Admiral room is fantastic and they made our planning experience amazing! They brought our vision to life and we couldn’t be happier!

Spotlight with EVL Events of WNY

We recently spoke with Samantha “Sam” Nelson- Owner of EVL Events.  She is a top Wedding Planner in Western NY.  Most of her events are a bit more upscale.  http://www.evlevents.com

First off, how long have you been a wedding planner and how many weddings have you planned?  Do you specialize in any type of weddings?     I have had my business for 8 wedding seasons now!  Wow!  I have planned a little over 200 weddings.  Currently I tend to specialize a little more in luxury weddings, but I am open to any and all conversations.  I do like to work with couples that want to be unique and do different things!  I am limited on the number of events I can do each year, so I always want to make sure we are a great fit for our clients!

How do you structure your pricing is there a flat fee a percentage hourly fees etc? My pricing is customized based on each client’s needs.  We do offer a flat fee for couples, but it’s structured on a case by case basis.

What is your process for working with couples? Every couple is different.  However, we become an extension of the couple’s family.  We are here with them for 12+ months planning the one of the more intimate times of their lives.  So we try to work with them from the beginning of the planning process and are with them throughout their planning journey, all the way until the end!  We do a mix of virtual and in person meetings and depending on the level or service they contract us for, will determine how often we meet and what we are a part of.  We are also know to be a part time therapist for them as well lol!

floral entryway
flowers by @williamsflorist

How do you handle last-minute changes or unexpected problems? With grace and a smile.. When (not if), When something comes up (because it always does), we are super quick to think on our feet and tackle the problem as quickly and effectively as possible.  We try our best to not get the clients involved unless it’s absolutely necessary.  Our job is to create a stress free environment for our couples and their families!

bat mitzvah entryway of Admiral Room
photo @aylssalandri

What is the first thing you’ll work on with your clients? Again, it depends on the level of services they hire us for.  However, for every couple the first thing we do is have an intro call so we can get to know them, their personalities, preferences, style, etc.  Likely we will establish a partial vision and their budget, then start working on securing a venue, date, and so on.

Do you have preferred vendors or can couples use their own? We now do have a preferred vendor list.  We will sometimes make exceptions for our couples if they would like to work with someone that is not on the list, but we do like to do our research to ensure they are insured, professional, etc.

rehearsal dinner @vault237buffalo@admiralroom
@evlevents rehearsal dinner wedding @admiralroom

Do you work with many different types of clients such as DIY or hands off.  We do work with couples of all shapes and sizes. We have couples that tell us just a few details and we plan every little detail.  We have couples that are very hands on and want to be involved in the planning process and we also have couples that are super creative and want to incorporate some DIY details into their wedding.  With DIY clients, we do have some parameters that we have to stay within, but we are super open to all conversations!

Do you have one piece of advice to share with couples? Take the time and enjoy the planning process!  Be a part of it, even if it’s a little bit and don’t let the little things stress you out.  At the end of the day your friends and family are there to support you and your love to one another.  Hire a planner to the heavy lifting for you and to help you make the best decisions for you and your significant other!
