Real Wedding- Fall Admiral Room

We would like to spotlight a beautiful wedding at the http://www.admiralroom.com.

How did you two meet?
Megan went to college at the Fashion Institute of Technology and every day she went to Gigi’s Café for lunch. After 2 years of going there consistently for lunch, Chris started working there and was very charismatic and flirty. It made Megan nervous every time she wanted to grab a quick lunch so she stopped going in to avoid the anxiety, haha. One Friday night, we happened to be in line next to each other waiting to get into a bar called No Fun, we recognized each other and that is where we officially met and started talking. A few days after that, Megan came back to the cafe where exchanged numbers and the rest was history.

Can you share your proposal story?
Chris booked a hotel room with skyline views and transformed it into a private, immersive proposal. The room was designed as a series of moments, almost like stations, each featuring roses, bouquets, and custom signs with photos and personal messages where he expressed his love and feelings along the way. At the final moment, in front of a rose-covered circular backdrop, he got down on one knee and proposed. He also had a hidden camera filming the entire experience.

Was it a surprise?
Short answer is yes, but Megan had a gut feeling it was coming rather soon despite no signs of it.

Is there a story behind your first dance or parent dance songs?
Yes, both songs hold meaning for us. Our first dance song has been our song throughout our entire relationship. Chris even played it on our first anniversary, when he surprised Megan with a private room so we could dance together, just the two of us. The song Chris chose for my dance with his mother was played at the very first concert she ever took him to. Beyond that, the lyrics themselves carry meaning for them, which made it the natural choice. For the father-daughter dance, Megan and her dad always bonded over older feel good songs so they knew when choosing a song it had to fit that vibe. Megan’s dad mentioned Forever Young by Rod Stewart because he said “if you listen to the lyrics, that’s really how I feel about you kids”. That alone made Megan thrilled to dance to it with him but on top of that the way the music makes you feel, just upbeat and like you want to dance portrays exactly who they are as people and our relationship.

What was the most exciting part about your day?
I don’t think we can narrow down to just one most exciting part of or day, but I will say our top 2 – first was right after our ceremony and being pronounced husband and wife, we ran off into a side room at the church just jumping together and in disbelief that we were officially husband and wife. We were so excited and just telling each other about our mornings getting ready and fan-girling over seeing each other in our outfits (Chris also kept his look a surprise for when we met on the aisle so we both had that suspense). These 5 minutes we were just in another dimension of happiness together that almost can’t be explained into words. The other favorite moment was our reception room reveal…we were actually late to the reception but the venue and our mother’s stood guard at the door to make sure no one went in before us. We had 5 minutes together to just run around and absorb and marvel at the vision we had been working on together for the past year and a half – really soaking it in seeing it all come to life. This was another moment of pure bliss that I wouldn’t have given up for anything.

What inspired your overall theme or vibe?

Our wedding theme was inspired by our shared passion for Italian culture and European architecture – everything from the style of the church, history of our venue, entertainment, the custom menu we created, traditions included (napkin swinging welcome of bride & groom), favors (Italian horn necklace), desserts. Italy is our favorite place to visit, we have been many times as a couple – at one point we thought of getting married in Italy but decided it would be more special to bring the essence of Italy to my hometown where I grew up to share it with all our family and friends.

Why did you choose the Admiral Room?

We chose the Admiral Room for oh so many reasons – the Italian history, the awe-inspiring marble & stone interior reminiscent of authentic European architecture. Plus the staff was beyond anything we could have expected, they went above and beyond to make our wildest, craziest dreams come true, installing multiple elements that have never been done before – serpentine table set up, stunning tiered cocktail hour display, hand carved jambon station, playing a movie trailer video of us on the ceiling, they even hung a 40foot linen sign with our wedding monogram on one of the columns that became a major focal point of the event. We were able to create a completely custom menu that fit our wedding theme exactly as we envisioned. There was not one thing we asked to do that they didn’t bring to life – I have never heard any other venue delivering this kind of care and service towards someone’s wedding and we are so grateful for it.

Any suggestions, concerns, comments you’d like to share?

One piece of advice I was given a couple days before the wedding (by Josh actually!) was that “just know something will go wrong on your wedding day, it always does, but you can’t let it bother you just stay in the moment of your day” and that to me was such a good reminder, because yes something did not go according to how we planned it but we took a minute to say aw that’s a bummer, but then moved right on back to enjoying our day like it never even happened! Even though I was prepared for the day to fly by, it truly went by so much faster than I even expected.
